See The Light

During the short days of winter, the lack of daylight is a big problem for many people. Our bodies need natural light to help stay productive and regulate our sleep. During the day, open curtains and blinds, grab a ray of sunshine, and spend as much time in the natural light as possible. Or try a lightbox. Many people have successfully reduced SAD (seasonal affective disorder) with a light at home or in the workplace.

Make Time For You.

Self-care is one of the topics that seems to be inescapable right now. The truth is, everyone needs to take care of themselves. “Me time” means different things to different people. It could be a warm fire and a good book. Or maybe it’s music. Perhaps it’s exercise. Allow yourself a few selfish minutes alone to relax your mind and body, reduce stress, and, ultimately, help you be positive and happier!

Get Organized

When winter gets you feeling frustrated and couped up, maybe it’s time to tidy up. Take a few minutes to straighten up and organize a commonly used space like a closet, your kitchen, home office, bedroom, bathroom, or even your car. Decluttering and tidying up can help cultivate a real state of tranquility and declutter your mind. And when your mind is clear and calm, it’s much easier to maintain an attitude of positivity.

Make Someone’s Day

Nothing will put a little “spring” in your step (See what we did there?), like doing something nice for someone else. Send a text. Make a phone call. Or better yet, send them a little something like, say, a gift basket! It’ll brighten their day AND your day, too!

Yes, these cold winter months can be tough to get through, so don’t be too hard on yourself if they get you down. With a little effort, you can make the most out of the season, and before you know it, you’ll be cutting your grass again
